I Alt-F4 all the time

It's cheap, but it has to be done.

If I start a multiplayer and like the fleet total is 600 and I only have 220 worth of non-destroyed, non-warped ships, I'm just going to Alt-F4 at ship select. Because I can't compete and I'll lose my remaining ships.

If someone is sitting in a gas cloud and refuses to leave and meet me halfway (or any way), I'm just going to alt-F4 instead of waiting for 20 mins.

I got into a match where a I was defending a space station and he sat not only out of attack range, but out of view range, and just launched mega range attacks from across the map. Alt-F4.

There's still a lot of ways to jerk around the system, but you shouldn't expect people to play along.

But unless you play you will never learn. It's stupid to do that cause you can always take lots of escorts and disengage main ships.. at least you are getting experience and cash even for the loss.

It's not a matter of learning. It's a matter of having fun. Yes, I can start a game and send 2394832 escorts at someone and warp. But that's not fun or interesting or a learning experience.

i had luck with my enemies, but if someone wants to kill the fun of the game he is able to do so. At the moment there are too many ways to play "unfair" but i guess this will get balanced in the beta.

On more than one occasion I've had my entire fleet wiped out except for one or two light cruisers. so I maneuver with 10 or so frigates and hide my cruisers in a gas cloud. I try to kill one of his ships and apologize.

I don't like games where I have to apologize for wasting my opponent's time.

I LOVE the idea of what they're trying to do, but the problem is you just don't have enough ships to survive a painful loss. Not even one. Unless you dick around and waste somebody else's game, well...that's it.

My solution is to drastically increase the number of available ships of each time you have. At least doubling them.

But they allow you to take up to three unupgraded LCs now so there is no reason to do this any more.

I'm starting to do this too, nova cannons are wrecking this game at lower levels. If a money shot lands, just alt+f4 because you auto lose.

I think a bunch of you get what I'm talking about. I don't know if it's nova cannon or not, but there are some mega cheese moves.

I just won a game and ended up with my battlecruiser and 3 of my cruisers highly damaged. So if I start another game and it's 600 or 700 pts, I basically have no chance. And yeah, I can throw 234982389 escorts at the enemy just to burn turns while my ships are repaired, but that's a pretty ridiculous requirement. It's "xp grinding" at an obnoxious scale. I can get a bag of popcorn and put all my ships on auto attack.

The idea of persistent captains and fleets is very cool. But the fact that so often many of them are in repair or otherwise in trouble is a problem. The fact I WON the game and I would have been much better off losing+warping is bad. I see captains warping when there is even a hint of them losing, because the penalty for a wrecked ship is so high.

Excuse me for my ignorance, I am new here and just got the game a few hours ago but I feel that this is a refreshing breeze to the RTS genre. Starcraft, Company of Heroes, Age of Empires, they have always been about winning, no matter the cost. When the final battle beings both players throw everything they got to win because that is all that matters.

In Battlefleet I have to be more careful, I can't just expect to be able to win every engagement or have equal forces to my opponents in every fight. This always annoyed me in more historical games like Total War, because the vast majority of battles through the history WHERE NOT EVEN. Most of the time one side gets slaughtered and the other prevails. You also have to way the consquenses of your actions long term rather than short term i.e. This risky manouver might win me the battle but is it going to affect me in my next match? Sometimes the goal is not to defeat the opponent but to disrupt or injure. Trying to cause as much destruction as possible before getting the hell out of dodge is to me as much fun as fighting an equal battle and mixes it up to prevent game after game getting dull and reptetive.
