Missing battles for damage and lost in warp

Postby Carpatheon » 24 June 2016, 15:28

This is honestly my biggest gripe with this game. The ships missing after being damaged, destroyed, or lost in the warp. This feature doesn't make sense in a multiplayer landscape of what is essentially nothing but random pickup games. It would have a place in a persistant campaign-like multiplayer system, but not the current random encounter mode of multiplayer.

Once your fleet is maxed out you usually have the money to rush repairs so its not much of an issue then, but when building up your fleet half you games are spent throwing escorts at the opponent while your good ships repair, or they are doing the same to you. This just makes for games that are not much fun to play in.

If its just random games with random opponents, there is no reason why both people shouldn't be at full strength every time. I'm not griping because I lose alot, I win more than I lose, its just that when you lose a big battle, its inevitably followed by wasting time on a few crappy battles, just to get repairs.

But it's a grim and dark universe, so battles should be punishing :geek:

The whole point of ship destruction and warp lost will only make sense in a Ladder or competive mode. That way you make navigator crew usefull. Now you dont even need to " fight boring battles" , just join with a light cruiser and scorts and capitulate until your main fleet is ready to go.

A ladder mode would not allow you to do this if you plan to stay on top.

Or you could see how well you can do with escorts. Winning as the underdog can be pretty satisfying.
Do you hear the voices too?!?

I,ve done it too, sometime it really is cool. But dont you agree with the rest of my post? Do you for one invest points in navigator crew?

I don't really have much of an opinion on the rest of your post. No argument for or against from me.

Exactly in a ladder/ranked environment is this whole progression/punishment system a real idiotic idea.
If my fleet is on its peak for the next battle or not shouldn't depend on RNG or outside factors.
It always has to ready to its fullest.
A better idea would be to rework the Navigator crew into something useful.

This whole game is % based, even dmg, so RNG is bound to happen. Its not like we are talking about a e-sport starcraft here.

Warp Loss is a clear % based and navigator has a clear chance to make rng work for you (also has its use on warping faster for data and assassination missions).

In a progressive ladder game, this mechanics would make you weight your decisions on wich ship to save, thinking about future games and not only the one you are in. Its one way to go. The other is the one proposed by you, wich I have nothing against either.
