Just faced a guy with FOUR Nova's. Working as intended?

What exactly am I supposed to do against 4, FOUR, nova cannons? My Battleship was crushed before I ever closed enough to fight. I get it, Empire needs Nova to be viable considering Chaos out ranges and outflies them. Fine. But there has to be a limit placed on it per fleet. Enough is enough. Don't tell me this wasn't obvious during internal testing and Alpha testing.

Yeah, we know. Everyone acknowledges that there's a problem with them short of a few contrarions and some people with ugly baby syndrome.

Having a no risk, huge reward, long range, short cooldown, high damage nuke that can be taken in multiples is pretty ridiculous. Fortunately, all the bitching seems to have gotten through to the devs. Unfortunately, the next set of balance changes they put up only gave novas a handslap, and the problem is still going to be there.

Which means the devs need to pull their head out of the clouds, or we need to bitch even harder.

Unfortunately for all of us, the Nova cannon is made as it should be. Well, cooldown may be increased to value allowing 1 shot in time of two (or 1.5) now.

Probably Devs shouldn't nerf it, but instead buff countering abilities? Shields and speed... Nova is not 'press X to win', but it's close to it.

I don't want to be that guy, I hate bitching about things. And to those two of you who suggested tacitcs...

1. can't taunt something across the board that I haven't identified
2. my ship got hit with THREE Nova's at once, at range, before I could even react. with 4 Nova's shooting, unless you field a fleet of shield transfer vessels it doesn;t work
3. he got 2 shots off per ship before I could close with him, using up all the afterburners to get there.

stupid "suggestions," please stop trolling. This is a legitimate issue.


Its not a nerf necessarily thats needed, just a limit on how many Nova carrying ships you can have in a battle at a time.

Yes, be sure to take multiple lighter ships, so that those nova cannons can have an even easier time of chunking your fleet.

Shield transfers yes, but that's a given. And while taunt is a broken piece of shit no skill ability, you can't taunt from across the map.

You're gonna take a few cycles of novas before you ever get in taunt range.

Ohh.. I guess it was 700 pts game.. and you know game has a plethora of mechanics to address nova spam - shield transfer, taunt, microwarp. And your ships above cruiser class can have all of these. shield transferring nurgle cruisers will rip through 4 nova ships - there will be 2 nova rounds until chaos will reach 3k range - and using shield transfer and jump\taunt correctly you can get there relatively unscratched.
Same goes for multiple imperial stratagems, like mass Dauntless or backed up emperor etc.

I understand that there actually IS a problem with underpowered ships (including some battleships), but if you are using wrong refit scheme or trying lance-kite 4 novas or rush badly supported battleship - you get what you deserved
