My suggestion means that we should be able to mod Tindalos's models. Like giving lances to battleships. That would not allow for any different IPs so no problem there.

oh come on guys,
is that really all the interesst this Topic gets?

Just think about what kind of ships you could use, full Lances? ok!, Plasmamakro on all batteries? No Problem!, You want more Hangars? Alrigth! Full customization of ork ships instead of just 2-3 Points? Granted! Eldar finally having a choice outside of lc and escorts? Sounds perfect!

There are so much possibilities with freely moduling ships it is not only the standart weapons but finally you can decide for yourselfe is you want a Nova cannon or Torpedos on that ship that would otherwise be perfect, maybe we could even get possinilites of getting different hulls to choose which will have different movement, turn, sonar, maybe Hull/shild or defence turrets.

There are so much possibilities to make ships more individuall and interesting and you really tell me almost no one on this Forum cares?

I had this idea during beta.

This would really, really help the game's longevity. And I would gladly sign an agreement to say that I don't do any conversion mods, only canon 40k ones.

Remember, this idea would give the game free user generated content that would let people play them while Tindalos works on patches and DLCs and stuff.

Alright, well I can't see these images anymore as they have been removed for some reason, but I guess it is a Desolator with some Macro Cannons. Now, I see what you mean by this, but this just additionally shows that the ships are built modular, which was clear for a very long time now.
This however does not mean that they can easily push out modding tools, due to a number of technical reasons. At least this is what I have gotten out from looking at the game's architecture. I will be posting a thread soon with what I have found out so far, and I'll see how many technical people are around here. If there are enough people, it should be possible to mod this game without help cooperation from Tindalos.

Oh, and before people say it's impossible to mod this game without Tindalos' help:

Just making new ship types from interchanging modules would be amazing! Unfortunately I'm not good at all at programming :(

But if you could do it, you would be the greatest BFG hero ever!

I would love to be able to mod the game. I'd get rid of 'blips' , running silent, change stats to be more like TT, give infinite range to ordinance. create some kind of way to simulate turn based TT BFG in this RTS using the tactical cogitator.
