Just something I thought I'd share. This strategy is absolutely brutal, not unbeatable because messengers are made of tissue paper so they can be killed fairly fast but the dps density in relation to point efficiency of this composition is absolutely disgusting.

It seems to be fair on line ships, it's just on Escorts once they have 3 upgrades that this seems to become an issue.

My suggestion to fix this would be to remove the extra turrets upgrade from 6 baseline turret Escorts OR lower the amount of turrets for all Tau Escorts to 3. This will reduce the dps desnisty and point efficiency by 33%, which makes it a powerful tool but no longer out dpses line ships through sheer numbers and seeker spam.

Smack em with the rail cannons while closing, with 75 armour on your frontal shield and 75 armour behind that, and then melt them down at 3K if they are still alive.

Now try putting that combo on a stronghold, and give it some mobility abilities as well. Any enemy force that has to close with you are eaten allive by that!

So in other words, I think the seeker missile upgrade, though very flavorful, really needs a rework.

On a stronghold alone, not a good idea because you're looking at 21 turrets for 216 points.

For the same amount of points you get 6 Messengers which means 9x6=54 turrets for seeker spam.

You're literally reducing your dps by half from seeker spam which is what pushes it over the top, the fact that there's a good 10+ Messengers coming at you with these upgrades.

It's only a cheesy, viable strategy with mass escorts.

Marker makes it 6k I think. Above 3k for sure.

Yeah, I think Seekers are what's OP about the combo here, and worst of all on escorts. It's the only thing I've lost versus so far against eight games in, and it's the obvious--too obvious--combo presented in the beta. Oi vei. It's obliteratingly painful.

Just ram the escorts, if they're doing it right they're massing Messengers with this combo which means you can ram them. It's not even seeker that's the problem really. Messenger just needs to have 3 default turrets and the problem is solved as it's a 33% damage reduction.

Markerlights make turret range TO 3k not increased BY 3k.
Turret defaultrange is 1.5k or 2k i don t remember

Well if the upgrade basically make the defensive turrets spit out missiles, why not let the enemy ships' defensive turrets basically reduce the damage the Seeker upgrade do?
