Ok to address two people - Beerandchips -

So 2 upgrades + special order+warfare to have something like 20 to 40% accuracy between 12k and 15k for macro (so armor reduction) for 45 seconds.
Do you see a lot of IN using targetting matrix + range macro upgrade to have a retribution firing at 15k range? No, because it is suboptimal and will never stop a fleet to reach you or outgun you with 12k lances builds
ANd btw you can t have Mont ka and Kauyon so no increased accuracy and TV reduction + better crit aiming at same time

Before speak, you should try to look at real maths and see what goes on.


When I was comparing the ranges and accuracy of each range, I used the imperials as a reference, to show another factions accuracy relative to the Tau. Not the optimal usage of upgrades of course and so whats your point? As for Mont'ka and Kauyon I refereed to them as choices on play styles, if you want quadrupled and not double chances to hit that subsystem your targeting (and you have to select a subsystem to target otherwise you don't receive this bonus) use Mont'ka. If you want to be hidden and fire from range you gain an extra 5% accuracy at every 3k range from you to your chosen target to a maximum at 15k for 25%. What confuses me is how you interpreted my quote as having both active when you cannot as you choose only one before starting battle. While I don't like the weaboo blue bloods I did check them out I did see what they could and could not do to better under stand my enemy. As for your last slight, maybe you sir. Should ask and confirm someones meaning before you accuse someone.

Firstly to seeker missiles or heavy seeker missiles, I did observe the said missiles clip through one of an opponents Tau cruiser and then shortly curve and hit my ship. That was before the most recent patch, now upon playing a skirmish match today I can confirm that they do indeed hit you and cause damage. You mentioned that in fact they don't hit friendly ships yet despite your quote -
-Seeker missiles do damage your own ship. I doubt you even play them if you don't know that. - you have no idea how stuff works and should not be arguing balance
When in fact I saw missiles go through Tau ships. This has most likely been patched in the most recent patch, since afterward they do, do what they the tool tip says. And so I'm not wrong with that assertion since the patch has barely been a week ago.

As for Mont'ka as you said -
-Mont'ka does not quadruple crit chance. (look up how it actually works, it's the same as SM surgical strike)

just so there's no misunderstanding here is a extract of what it does Mont'ka:
By engaging in Mont'ka warfare, enemy ship's troop value is reduced by 5 because of extensive use of battlesuits during assault actions. In addition, the chances of destroying a targeted subsystem on an enemy ship are quadrupled instead of doubled. This bonus is also applied to critical damage caused by weaponry.

Where as Space marines surgical strike is as follows: All assault actions consider the enemy troop value reduced by 10. Chances to destroy targeted enemy subsystems are quadrupled instead of doubled.

Now these descriptions were taken from ingame - while similar, Tau receive a bonus to critical chance with weaponry and so I was not wrong there. - Later you mentioned
Also, when comparing dps, everyone's conveniently forgetting Tau have 200 less health and their cruisers are some of the most expensive in the game in their class.
( To where or whom your comment was directed at I don't know) But the reason for this expense is because most of the ships include escort ships as part of their pricing. Yes when calculating DPS Tau often looks a bit poor in the mouth since they are often very expensive and have lower DPS then compared to other ships. However you should also consider the DPS potential of those escorts that make up its value as total DPS, since they come with the ship whether you like it or not. So you should consider its DPS with the ship that it originally came with. Take the Sa'cea Tau light cruiser - a 102 point warship and the Tau Bork'an light cruiser a 175 point warship. (Just saying, such weird names for ships) The Sa'cea light cruiser is comparable to other warships of the same class with seeker missiles or torpedoes, lances and macro batteries. And the Bork'an brings similar armament except for the lances but brings with it two warden escorts that make up 74 points of its cost and so the 'free' escorts aren't really free are they? Thus its 101 points of just warship.. In a way if you don't get rammed or have skills used on you and just get shot at then you have even more hull and shields then normal since Tau light cruisers have 100 shield strength and 400 hull, and in the case of the warden escort it has 100 shield and 100 hull. So you benefit from 200 shield points.

tau do NOT receive a bonus to crit chance, only a increase to the chance the right system is critted
basically like SM surgical strike but it counts for weapons too, it does NOT quadruple the crit chance

also the missile glitching trough a ship is because of lag not some kind of rule, the other guy was host and one of you had a bad connection, it happens, considering tau ships weird shape it happens slightly more with them but i have seen it happen to IN and even orks

It does not increase your chance of scoring a critical hit. What it does is re-roll which system is hit if it is not the one you have selected to be hit. It does this up to four times, for both boarding actions and weapons fire.

Heavy seeker missiles damages yourown ships and your ally too. The only ship immune is the one launching the missiles. So if a ship use missiles, his own missiles can pass through him
