I can say that the Murder and Slaughter are rather disappointing. I'd go for the fighter one if given the choice again I think.

Well you can take a look at your ships weaponry before deciding. Mousing over their weapon icons shows things as range, ROF, etc. Should help you decide on which ship works for you and what doesent

I went for the slaughter as it is a chaos version of the lunar (lances and macro batteries) with macro batteries instead of torpedoes. It is there as the center of the fleet while the fighter LC is there to use assault boats.

If you followed my advise on going for Harbinger IIs, then choose the Carnage or the Murder.
Both have the highest range and very high crit chances. They also have rapid-fire broudsides that put out A LOT of shots per broudside, so they do decent damage at all ranges are are dangerous for imperial ships to try closing with.

Murder also has a double heavy prow lance, that thing eats Dauntless and escorts in seconds and can chunk cruiser shields.

Recomend crit upgrades for any lances, range+accuracy upgrades for weapon batteries and make frequent use of stasis bombs, micro warp jumps and lock on orders.

That's the load out I use with a roughly 80% success rate vs most imperial fleets, just be wary to stay out at 9-12K range, don't close unless you know you can kill what you're facing.
Where's your Federation now?
