Torpedos on Auto

Hi,

i like brawling with my ships so i use Retribution, Overlord, Dominator and for some long range punch a Gothic class. Nice side effect, a lot of Torpedos.
Yesterday i hit accidentally the torps Autofire and was amazed how good it works in knife fight distance without micromanagement. Nearly every salvo was a hit with at least half of the torpedos. Did a few more games afterwards with torpedos on auto and noticed that the AI didn't shoot until around 10k-12k distance. The AI also didn't hit anything when closing in but got really deadly while circling around for broadside fun. Its also nice to see how the AI avoids a 100% hit on a prio 3 target to get the killshot on a prio 1 target. Actually i think i couldn't do it much better on my own.

Anyone else using torps on auto and made the same experience?

This might be pretty brutal when the buff hits.

Buff is good on Torps. I had wondered how it would be but personally I think they are in a good place. Well that is what it is like on testers build from my first few games (sp sadly. Will test more tonight perhaps)


I do wonder if 50% armour instead of 25% eith faster torpedoes might be a bit more balanced but will soon find out I guess.

As it stands Torpedoes are deadly now as they should be. Opens the game right up and certain upgrades might make more sense now such as health upgrade or even turret upgrade.

Im considering upgrading my Firestorms with +3 turrets. Will make them very effective screens.


Shame formations got completely removed instead of nerfed. Having 2 firestorms escort your more valuable cruisers with said upgrade would be useful. Anyways Im going off on a tangent considering different buffs for escorts besides pure DPS/Survivability.

I definitely like the tactical appeal of using escorts as screens against torps and bomber/assault craft. Definitely an area where they can shine.

I like the extra detection range on frigates so that they can play a support role more effectively. The idea of using defense turrets on them is attractive. They are an expendable screen, and a damage over time boon for their cost.

Have to say, I was really impressed by the AI auto-torpedoes as well!
