AI stupidity

Postby Ashardalon » 31 December 2016, 11:20

AI still doesn't realize that the assasination/datarecovery missions have changed since beta and the target is auto revealed

this really needs to be updated, even if you need to completely block AI from being able to run silent in assassination missions

less relevant but still related to AI stupidity

running through a asteroid field to ram a space hulk is just not in any way a smart move
AI engagement range in the campaign need to be checked and tweeked

You can see that AI has no set engagement range, so it defaults to 0

which is a very very bad idea vs a space hulk
in that mission no ship should have a engagement range closer that 9k

Also that's why Eldar die so fast in the campaign

This is still not fixed, and because of that I can't enjoy singleplayer campaign on harder difficulties, since some AI ships (mainly eldar) die too fast.

Greetings Admirals,

This issue was duly reported to the Dev Team and is still under investigation: Tweaking the AI to avoid weird behaviors is not an easy task and requires days of programming, setting and testing and debugging. At the same time, we have many other things to fix/adjust/create so it is normal that it takes a bit of a time.
We will communicate on this as soon as there will be an improvement on the subject.
In the meantime, I understand completely this can impact negatively your gameplay experience and we're sorry for the inconvenience.

General AI problems is a big and complicated problem, however, all ally ships that are not randomly generated (ones that have unique names\captains, like The Flame Of Purity) just don't have an engagement range set. So it's not at AI problem, and I'm sure it's easier to fix.

Still: we can't patch the game with one 'easy' fix and make another one later with the harder ones. Fixing and adjusting the game cost resources and we need to be efficient in this case, by making a huge batch of fixes (plus testing them all at the same time).
On top of that, each patch need to be uploaded to Steam: we can't modify values on the fly like some online game. :s
