Not that I don't appreciate Alpharius, but this question is still open, and I would really appreciate if talked-about tech priests or any other developers that know how it works could give me answer here.

PistonMiner wrote:Hello, this is not so much a question as it is asking for confirmation, to quote myself:
PistonMiner wrote:For people interested in how it actually works, this is my understanding of it:

Code: Select all

accuracy(range, factionAccuracyModifier, weaponAccuracy) = (1 - factionAccuracyModifier * range) * weaponAccuracy

Where accuracy is a decimal value detailing the likelihood to hit the enemy ship, range being the distance of the ship to the target in 3K units as a decimal value, factionAccuracyModifier being the accuracy falloff of the faction from 0 to 1, and weaponAccuracy being a decimal value from 0 to 1 that is set per weapon.

Example: My Overlord-class Battlecruisers fires it's Macro-Batteries at a target which is 9K units away.
The likelyhood to hit the target will be

Code: Select all

accuracy(3.0, 0.2, 0.6) = (1 - 0.2 * 3.0) * 0.6 = 0.24

That's 24%.

Are my assumptions correct?

if a ship already has 4 fires can additional assault boats still cause fire crits or do my boys realize this is not the time for skorchas?

Does repair drones also work for the casting ship? (Quite sure its no but I would like a confirmation)

Also noticed that SM macros on strike cruisers have 8 damages but 1.5% crit chance, it should be 2% to be in line with other weapons? (0.25% / damage)

Why SM strike cruisers have 100 base shield and Tau cruisers have 200?

Experimental railgun description says he ignores armor but tooltip says reduce armor to 25%, which one is true?

Heavy seeker missiles have 11% crit rate which is the same as torpedoes but they do 10 damage less, is it a bug or the value is correct?

fire warrior confusion:
the favors of other faction dont count for assault boats
but Sir a Harris says if that is the case he is getting really lucky with his boarding (totally possible too)
since for fire warriors the bonus isnt just an extra fire but also a increase in troop value making it possible to raise boarding defense massively it is rather relevant to know if they can start raising that from 12k or only with actual boarding
any non carrier goff ork would find this info really useful as they would be hit 3 times as hard by this

armor confusion:
does AP ammo and lances work on adaptive deflectors?
and to where does tau frontal armor extend? they are rounded
on tau cruisers the rear armor is really clear but the front is a half circle, to where does it count as front?
some clarification on this would be helpful not just for tau
with imps i imagine the frontal shield is the frontal armor but is it the same for the jaw on ork ships
what about eldar doing the hardening thing, is it the entire frontal teardrop shape or are the sides of the teardrop still side
for chaos and SM it doesnt really matter i guess

Do tau torpedoes reduce or ignore armor at all? Can't find any tooltips about it.

How may HP have the manta bomber?
All squadrons have 6 hp so does manta have 4 hp (1 hp for each fighter and 4 hp for manta ) or 1?

I think it is 1 hp per fighter (so 5p total) and 2 hp for the 1 manta.

Why are Vanguards so bad? 400HP is not enough to do anything beyond die quickly and gloriously for the Emperor. Since Space Marines can only get 1 favor of each type total, and it makes more sense to put these favors on your Battle Barges/Strike Cruisers, that means you are stuck with 4 unfavored 400HP ships. I heard that Vanguards are kind of in between an escort and a light cruiser, and I guess the game had to shoehorn them in somewhere. But for their limited firepower and HP they don't feel worth the cost at this point, especially considering how much armor-mitigating stuff all the other races have to throw at us :(
