I'd of liked to have seen the enemies reaction to that.

This is battlefleet gothic SHOULD BE.

"Lets defend this vital imperial world with our mighty fleet! i.e: one mars and a few escorts and a really stupid AI with two dauntless light cruisers who just zoom off and die separately" is NOT what the game should be.

Sigh. So much promise. Sigh.

Except even in the Lore most of the time fleet combat is 2-3 line ships at most. There's been a FEW cataclysmic epic, Trafalgar/Jutland style battles. But the vast majority are a couple ships here and there. A single Cruiser is enough to destroy a world over time, it's a massive investment.

Honestly it's more realistic to the lore the way it is right now. Battle fleets would rarely deploy particularly great numbers, even during the Gothic War the majority of battles where skirmishes that rarely involved more than 42 vessels (including escorts) with only maybe a dozen capital ships.

Obviously for an RTT you have to down-scale things (like allmost all 40K games), so having command of a fleet of 4-12 vessels in most battles is fair scaling.

Although something like the UA Mod for DoW would be cool, but the tactical and micro elements would need cutting down :P

Most engagements in tabletop and lore were between 1-2 battleships or grand cruisers + 3-5 cruisers and light cruisers + escort squadrons of 2-5 escorts.

Only the climax battles of the 12th and 13th Black Crusades got really big.

You have to remember the Battlefleet Gothic of the Gothic sector is a sector fleet, not the Segmentum fleet. They possess only a few battleships, a few more grand cruisers, most of the ships were cruisers and light cruisers and, of course, escorts. The scale is ok, though I would like them to add one more ship per class.

The Battle of Gethsemane, the pivotal turning point of the entire Gothic War? The IN under Ravensburg brought two battleships, two battlecruisers and about 15 or so cruisers and light cruisers plus 20 or so escorts. That was the whole show and it won the by far largest battle of the Gothic War to that point, seven years into it.

That does lead to the other issue with the game though doesn't it, despite being told that these are miles long ships they don't feel like it. For the Imperium a Dauntless is an investment of decades of resources and manpower for us its a bath toy that costs what 50 req to rebuild?

Whats the purpose of playing with far more ships that you can manage? It is just for the show of letting them do the job alone and see what happens?

I would disagree. I'm not an amazing player by any means, maybe average at best, but this game is not overly taxing on my (in)ability to micro because there's not that much to coordinate. I played SC2 for a while but stayed out of ladder or anything "normal" because i'm not a player who can do that well.

What kind of training wheels RTS do you wanna play where you just micro 5 units, most of which have abilities you can auto cast, and then tac cog if it even gets slightly too "fast" paced?

More on topic though, the rampant cheating is making me even less interested in playing MP, and i've barely touched Campaign. I'm amused the game can handle that many ships, meaning the point limiting wasn't a design issue, they just want fleets hamstrung lol.
