Make gameplay "events" to keep the servers populated ? Like revamped stats, abilities and powers.

Well games do keep themself alive by events, like DLCs and patches. So maybe we could make events where the stats are changed for a 1 week in a month? So people must not be afraid to loose the "gameplay" experience they like, but also experience something new.

So what you think and what you suggest.
1- it must be easy to make by simple change of stats.
2- and not too much break the balance.
3- do the game mode for "Ranked", not the persistent game mode.

Example:
from 6 till 12 February = like em all weapon ranges reduced, and speed and armour increased.
On the rest = normal "current stats"

from March 20 till 26 = em , em all Nova Cannons buffed, eldar range reduced & armour buffed, orcs can several times teleport, but Zzap disabled, Chaos Nurgle buff tripled and have more hitpoints.
On the rest = normal "current stats"

from April 3 till 9 = em cost 50% cut
On the rest = normal "current stats"

Just examples.

Have you any ideas for other fun modes ? Perhaps for the event time in ranked game mode? You have already there full access and most of the people play persistent. So event times in ranked , not the persistent mode.

I like the idea of events, but not really stat changes. Maybe special battles? Something like combat in low orbit. One table Edge is dominated by a planetary hemisphere, and all ships are slowly drawn towards the planet unless they move away from it. The defender can activate a planetary defense laser every 120 seconds that starts on a cooldown. Bonus Renown if the attacker is able to destroy the laser.

Or something along those lines.
Orkz is never beatin in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fightin so it don't count. If we legz it we don't die neither, so we can come back for annuver go, see!

Anyway right now we have not so many people online.
Most of the time I do face low levels people and only sometimes experienced players.
We need something to drag attention here again.


stat changes are cheap to make, special battles would take a lot of development.
A new fleet would be nice, but so far we did not hear anything new.
I would like if community does keep attention here.

And actually swapped stats for certain time could let people play the game again.

1 v 1 single player special events, and 2 player vs 1 npc special events.

Kinds of events.

Have your fleet survive for as long as possible against a fleet double the points of your fleet, tripple the size, quadruple the size, etc.

Maybe some special one of a kind "space monster" type creatures, things that aren't nessisarily tyranids, but they could be, but huge things bigger than battleships that you got to stop before they devour a planet.

Escort christmas-colored ships across the board to the other deployment zone to get the precious cargo delivered in time.

Maybe a low-point value mission where you could only use escorts. You only face off against your own race. Its some kind of map where its an escort-race. Got to try and get your ship from objective to objective in order while avoiding some minefields and asteroid fields or other hazards, racing against the other player to see who can pilot the ship better to get through the obstacle course.

Special event where all ships are always revealed and concealment abilities are disabled, as it should be. throw in "unlimited" bomber, assault boat, and fighter range as well, as it also should be.

Keeping the community entertained is one of our main goals and we are actually looking for new possibilities.
But as you may know, all ideas have to be submitted to Games Workshop approval before anything.
We have few subjects to speak with them and I will keep you informed as soon as possible. ;)

The point is, there are people who like to try new stuff out. That's why so many do play Starcraft2 for mods.

The game wouldnt HAVE any population issues if the devs werent so obstinate that "the game needs to be unfair b/c thw W40K universe is unfair", and created an abysmal, frustrating new player experience that drove them away


Creating new events will do nothing if you diont fix underlying issues that drove people away in the first place

1 Exactly that is the IDEA.

2 The lore of Turn Based game to put in real-time has its issues.

3 So why not call it "Immaterium Operations" ?
Immaterium = Warp
We know in Immaterium the law of Physics do break dance.
Immaterium does Hardcore affect ships.

4 Or we could allow mods to be played "as event" the one mod team does indeed make great stuff. So why not simple a "online" community mod event ?

Editing stats and the like wont address the issues that make the game frustrating for new players and in turn causes the abysmal player retention rate this game has like low level players being matched vs high level admirals with maxed ranked ships or the frustration of renown grind for a "narrative" that dosn't exist
