So this isn't a whine, yet, because it's early days like.

Buuuuuut, with the changes to the engine upgrade for Imperial (+25 speed but crit fucks manouvering, instead of 50% reduction in engine crit pentaly as per the previous beta patch) I'm worried that Imperial fleets will go back to the bad old days of engine crit = gg warp out.

Just had a 2v2 dual Imps versus Chaos and both my ships got engine critted very early and left me unable to do anything for the rest of the game. Not unfair considering the low level and upgrade status of my ships currently, but I don't see any way for me to mitigate this in the future.

The last patch I felt had it right, with an engine critical imposing a penalty but not an instant game over ( all my ships had the engine upgrade from when it was a pure speed bost). I worry that Imperial ships will now be useless following an engine crit. Weak or disadvantaged is fine but no one wants to be the tortoise to a hare that never tires and can use bombers and lances with impunity.


I'm not a fan of any automatic game-over-go-home-and-cry-yourself-to-sleep-into-your-emperor-pillow mechanic and it seemed to be fine in the last patch?

I will of course refrain from solidifying my opinion until I get belt armour on all my ships...

So far I really like the changes. The Eldar now certainly feel like, if not glass then at least brittle iron, cannons rather than impervious avatars of death. The changes to the Holo-field alone have perhaps made Eldar one of my favourite factions.

Shoot me if I'm wrong, but I'm still missing some of the skills. They're still greyed out with the "locked"-symbol.

I noticed with Imperials some of the upgrades were greyed out. I think that they are only unlocked for certain ships.

For example; The torpedo upgrade is only for ships with torps (obvious) and I believe the ram upgrade is only for ships that have the dong hanging out infront of the prow, like the Retribution or Overlord (less obvious)

Imperials shoot torps twice. Auto and then manually. GOOD BUFF! :D
