Armada the Board game

Postby Mawell » 11 October 2016, 06:01

Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on a board game pototype based in the warhammer armada universe.
The rules are the X-Wing The board Game, modified.
I'd like to have a prototype of the game to present, in the aim to develop it, and of course some miniatures.
So...
Do you know how to export meshes of ships to print it with 3d printer ?
I can see it with UModel, convert it with Milkshape 3d, and import some in blender... But no way to import the Planet Killer for exemple. I suppose that the file is too big ?
If anyone can help me, by a tutorial for exemple, or a way to have the .obj for theses ship ?

Thanks guys ! This game is awesome, and I'm shure that in board game it could kick asses !

isnt that illegal?
dont you need the ok from GW for something like that?
i would love to see something like that but im pretty sure there are laws against just exporting models directly from a game
and you are exporting it from a game that has exported it?
be careful :?

Making rules are ok.

Selling them is not, you need GW permission.

Printing gw models is illegal.

Please help me change skirmish to be customisable. Its very important for PVE players.

I know that isn't truely legal, but I'd like to have a nice prototype to present to GW when my rules will be ok. I've contacted a french editor (I'm a french dude ^^), and the only way to be accepted by GW is to have a kickass proto...
I obviously don't want to sell it to anyone :-)

rather then basing it off x-wing you MAY want to find the original Battlefleet gothic rules online.

Making a new ruleset and posting it online or to GW is fine.

Just do not re-cast their old models.

And there goes the sarcastaball guy. Battlefleet Gothic, like most GW rules, were horrendous.

I can understand why someone would rather want to port the game for a ruleset that actually works.

Eh, I made a more streamlined version of BFG like... 6-8 years ago, nobody in the BFG community was interested in a more streamlined version at the time. I tend to agree that BFG rules aren't that bad, especially with the 2010 FAQ. Could it be better? Yes. Should it be something more like x-wing? I don't know, x-wing is a dogfighter game, BFG is a naval combat game. I think a system more similar to "A call to arms" would fit with BFG than x-wing.
