Nemesis query

Postby matth431 » 04 October 2016, 08:07

OK, so I have my first Nemesis mission and it's a bummer - 700pt Convoy Attacker, but the Nemesis is the Tzeentch ship, which means all of the transports get the Warp Signature Echo ability and can decoy away. :x

So, questions:

1) even with primarily light cruisers, I couldn't keep up with them on retro burn, so would it be better to have a shedload of escorts?

2) does killing the Nemesis end the mission if the transports haven't reached the other side of the map, and if so, do I have a chance of destroying it before they can do so?

3) do any IN powers identify the decoys (ie Tarot, probes)?

4) if I just skip the mission, will it always be Convoy when that particular Nemesis shows back up? How often do they reappear before the later story mission where you face any undestroyed ones?

Ta for any advice.

1. chaos transports can not outrun an imp LC, you where chasing the wrong ship, and i mean ship because even decoys have the same speed as the ship they where launched from

2. no, but killing the transport will end the mission without killing the nemesis and it does count as killed in the campaign

3. any spot on a decoy instantly removes the decoy, a widowmaker makes decoys almost completely useless, beacons or probes can remove them instantly, i dont have a lot of experience with inquisition but im pretty sure that targeting one with the tarot will similarly remove the decoy immediately
similarly if the ship that has launched the decoy is revealed the decoy is removed aswell

4. they stay on the campaign map until you win vs them(just win, killing is not necessary, kinda sad about that) the mission type is random, dont know if you face them all at a later date if you leave them i tend to just kill them

Thanks - second go I took four LCs each paired with a Firestorm, spread out across the map and set for 3K range (I normally go 6K as the whole fleet has the accuracy upgrade). Fired probes whenever they were up and went straight for the transports ignoring the support. Took out all the transports and got the victory - though the Nemesis nailed my flagship, but will wait and see if the Nemesis counts as "destroyed" - I subsequently got an Assassination mission against the Slaanesh Nemesis and after winning that I got a congrats from Ravensburg, which I didn't for the Tzeentch ship. So I'll keep an eye out for it in the Planet Killer mission.

the accuracy upgrade only benefits from 6k and up, so at 6k it has no effect
just something i thought you might want to know

Yes - but trying to stay at 3k range means my ships are spending more time trying to catch the enemy than presenting broadsides (if I'm not micromanaging them). If the enemy is trying to keep range, the bonus kicks in, if not (like orks) I'm far enough out to avoid rams and the worst of da dakka.
