Ai replacing capitulaters will allow you to buy time to warp out... But that's pretty much it.

But you don't always have to warp out sometimes you are actually wining and finish mopping up by yourself. Why do you think I am annoyed.

Hopefully they can improve the AI later aswell.
Or they can replace the player with 'hard' AI to get the other advantages.

I agree, something should be done. Either allow the player to back out and place all their remaining ships lost or damaged, or have the AI take over for the remainder of the match. Much better than not getting the choice just because your ally decided to surrender.

Looks like the problem is definitely the lack of consideration of the player's wishes. Allowing your players to choose is a powerful thing, and shouldn't be underestimated as a positive feature.
