a cowards voiceline

Postby Ashardalon » 10 February 2017, 22:30

i was having a close fight where i needed my full attention on my battleship
and the enemy had several ships heavily damaged and on fire
so when i heard a warp drive charging up i assumed it was him saving one of his ships from destruction
turns out it wasnt

considering the warpout sound of your ships is usually the same as that of the enemy's ships i would really appreciate having a voiceline accompany it to clarify if its yours or theirs

i understand that this might be a bit much to ask, that voiceactor of the second mission might need to say an extra line too but it would make hearing a warpdrive a lot more informative
besides, any excuse to make the commissar for the campaign say a few more lines ;)
hearing your representation of a daemons voice would also be awesome or a squig giving a little growl :)

It's all about them audio cues, and I have been saying this repeatedly!

might have been asking for too much
i heard voice actors are expensive so a lot of extra lines are going to cost a lot
they probably also want to avoid too many voicelines at once drowning out the game sound
but a select few should be added and since this is a sound that will literally decide the fate of an entire ship and you will rarely hear it at all and never more then 6 or so times
it seems to me to be more relevant then hearing whether or not a boarding action succeeded

If it's done right.. it would work well.. COH/COH2 are the best examples of audio cues that work really well.

Greetings Admirals,

The sound design and the audio programming are clearly very expensive parts of the video game production.
But this is exactly the kind of improvement that could really help users out.
We will study your request to see if it can be done. ;)

Thank you for pointing that out!
