well they fly slow enough to get inside under the coverage of the shield. under in this case means between the shield and the ship.

Because they fly under the shields and then fire at the ship. They go through the shields just like torpedoes do. Because that is how shields work in WH40k. They don't stop objects with high mass traveling at low speed(compared to weapons). That is why ships can ram each other and not be like bumper...
