Re: Update 1.5.8536 - Patch Note

If this is how Tindalos handles balancing just five factions I shudder to think how they will handle adding the Tau in much less the even weirder fleets of the Necrons and the Tyranids. Its like every damn patch changes the game's meta completely.

Re: My inital impressions and opions of the SM faction

Played a few rounds on Skirmish For SM's it seems that their greatest Achilles' heel is their greatly attenuated sensor radius. If MWJ is auto-include for IN, Augur Probe is it for SM fleet since their principal weapons, the Thundrhawk and the Boarding Torps, are so heavily dependent on identifying ...

Re: My inital impressions and opions of the SM faction

Considering that chapter choice is mostly cosmetic and this is a naval game I wished they put in some of the more notable spacefaring chapters like the Carcharadons (aka the Space Sharks), the Black Templars and the Mantis Warriors. Oh wells guess we have to wait for the ship painter and hope they p...

Re: Replacing Space Marine Favor

Personally I think its all about maintaining factional synergy and identity. IN is about gunnery, so a factional favor I believe should somehow augment this or add a new spin to it, not take it in an different and altogether inefficient direction. Why bother having a token troops boost for boarding ...

Re: Replacing Space Marine Favor

Actually its the reverse; Imperial Guard are outright prohibited from operating their own ships or being stationed aboard as anything other than a passenger so them having a favor in BFGA absolutely makes no sense. In contrast its quite normal for Inquisitors and Mechanicus to be stationed aboard or...

Re: Replacing Space Marine Favor

The funny thing about calling them Tempestus Scions is that it is both right and wrong in terms of Warhammer 40k lore; On one hand Naval Security Battalions or Naval Armsmen are considered on par with Stormtroopers in terms of ability and quality, though they wield shot cannons instead of hell guns,...

Replacing Space Marine Favor

With the upcoming release of the Space Marine Fleet DLC and recent nerfing of the Space Marine Favor's troops bonus that I believe the involvement of space marines with the Imperial Navy has become somewhat superfluous from a gameplay and story perspective. Fluff-wise Space Marine are, with few exce...

Re: What Race got you into W40k

4th ed Tau piqued my interest but it was Dan Abnett's Sabbat War novels that really drew me in.

Re: Gravitic hooks

Well the thing is Tau have two types of escorts; those that are warp capable like the Defender, the Messenger and the Castellan and those that must rely on Gravitic Hooks, like the Warden and the Orca. The Tau have four ships that have Gravitic Hooks, the Explorer and Custodian Battleships and the M...

Re: Thoughts on Tau Strike Craft

Well I think the focus should be on the word "rarely". It has happened, like in the case of the Fire Warrior game (which is semi-canonical), and considering that Tau are relative novices to void combat who's to say they won't begin to pick up on the concept eventually. Also BFG pretty much...
