The escorts packed densly have overlapping turret coverage. Sometimes one or two torps will get through and actually hit somthing. That is definitely not enough do deal noticeable damage.
The long-range lance fire is about the only way to reliably dish-out damage at range to escort spam.

And for mass disengage because oа escort losses - I dont care if the two kroozers disengage, its the escorts dishing out damage. And escorts never flee.

I haven't encountered a properly played Ork escort spam in all my 80 hours of playing. But I have to say, I'm playing it myself with an Ork admiral. It's not 100% win, but very close to it. Chaos is the best at kiting that out, though I play carrier Kruzers with Zzaps to bring some pain at a distanc...

The game is NOT defective. If you understand "Defective" as stated above as "defective is imperfect, having a deficiency (this game have a lot)", then everything in this world is defective, as no thing is absolutely perfect. I am sorry for breaking your dreams of a perfect world....

@Gerver - check the enemy fleet loadout before commiting to a tactic. If you see mega kannons, NEVER get into their ark of fire. Which is difficult, but possible to accomplish through smart use of special maneuvers, which orks dont have. Upgraded engines help tons. Circle them at 4-6K, whittle with...

Orks shields are weak. 100 on most ships, versus 200 on others. And things like Imp will take +100 and 25% armor. That make Imp far tougher, cause shield pop is faster than hull repair.
