Re: What Race got you into W40k

For BFG, I started out by buying a crap ton of Tyranids, without really knowing how to play.

For 40K proper, I got some Tyranids before stopping both in middle school. Then in college, I "re-discovered" 40K, and began building up a force of Necrons.

Re: Universal ship comparisons: Executor-Class SSD vs Retribution-Class BB

I have a very limited understanding of how plasma works (read: I skimmed a bit on the Wikipeds), so correct me if I'm wrong. A plasma torch can reach temperatures of 45,000 Fahrenheit. Converted, this is approximately 25,000 degrees Kelvin. Granted, this is only used for a small jet of plasma to cut...

Re: From the Dust (Post-Heresy Council RP) Out of Character Thread

Quick question: What is our relationship with the Space Marines? As I recall, they were an organization somewhat separate from the rest of the Imperium, and not really at the beck and call of the High Lords. Can we order them around to specific tasks or patrols? Or can we only make recommendations a...

Re: From the Dust (Post-Heresy Council RP) Out of Character Thread

Well, we still have until Abaddon's first Black Crusade and the Beast's incursion to unfuck things.

Re: From the Dust (Post-Heresy Council RP) Out of Character Thread

I was wondering about the same thing, too. Maybe just a few posts after our initial reports/decisions, so as not to get off-track.

Re: Universal ship comparisons: Executor-Class SSD vs Retribution-Class BB

Just curious, where did you get these estimates, 8km for the Retribution and 100,000km range, for example? Or the strength of Void Shields?

Re: Universal ship comparisons: Intrepid-Class Starship vs Iconoclast Destroyer

Battlefleet Gothic has less in the way of solid figures and numbers. Rogue Trader does have those figures.

I think Alexi_Mencer set the bar pretty high. So yeah, I'll be using the format he set up, as well. Hope you don't mind, Alexi. :P

Re: Universal ship comparisons: Intrepid-Class Starship vs Iconoclast Destroyer

I would imagine that the Intrepid would have much better maneuverability to the Iconoclast. Star Trek ships were down to have great agility, depending on the helm and the captain working together. One other variable to mention: if the Iconoclast had a jury-rigged teleporter, and they manage to board...
