Re: What does these cannons do?

Never articulated anywhere in the fluff that I know of. They're definitely not cannons, but it's easy to think of alternatives:

a) sensor pod/packages

b) Geller/void shield channeling rods

c) retro thrusters

Re: Which Faction would you like to see the most in Battlefleet Gothic?

So what exactly makes a rogue trader fleet different from any other imperial branch? More exotic tech, alien allies? Power gamer's dream fleet, since you could mix and match a wide combination of Imperial, Chaos, Eldar, Ork, and Tau ships in the same list. On top of that, they had access to more of...

Re: Why do bombers go through shields?

Let's go with a thought-experiment here: Hypothesis: void shields dump incoming "stuff" directly into the warp. Unstated Assumption: a warp rift would have to be in place of the projectile/beam/blast's path. Complaint: Why doesn't EVERYTHING get sucked into aforementioned warp breach? Unst...

Re: Tyranid Implementation Discussion

I dont remember the Dark Eldar having much space capability. They would use ancient webway portals and where just sadistic pirates/raiders who worshipped the dark gods. They didnt have any need for space travel. Dark Eldar pirates are probably both more common and more dangerous than corsair eldar....

Re: Caliber of rounds.

lemme put it this way No. You completely missed the point, which was a tabletop board where 60cm represents the distance between Mars -- Jupiter (~30 light minutes) is just as valid as a board where 60cm represents the distance from Earth to the Moon (~1.3 light seconds). It's an extreme example bu...

Re: Caliber of rounds.

Lances are the problem with this standard. A 60cm lance would have a range of 6,000,000km, which is about 20 seconds at the speed of light. A 10km long ship would only have to change course minimally to generate a miss - considering ship can easily travel 1,500,000km per turn (15cm speed). Must be ...

Re: Caliber of rounds.

Yep, and to complicate the discussion of scale further, the core rulebook specifically notes that neither distance nor time-length of a turn were constant. For example, it's perfectly possible to set a board with Mars at one end, an asteroid belt in the middle, and Jupiter at the far side. This woul...

Re: Inquisitor Horst plot hole

800 years for a member of the upper class, let alone someone with the resources of an Inquisitor, is not uncommon in the Imperium. Their methods may seem crude & barbaric (because GRIMDARK) but the effects of that treatment add up to mean the Imperium has better medical science than the humans o...

Re: The best suggestion EVER

Part of my problem with the convoy mode is the transports are the same for everyone regardless of faction strengths/weaknesses. Factions like Chaos or Eldar intended for kiting are going to have a harder time / less fun babysitting a slow turd that any ship from any faction can catch. I'm not saying...

Re: Broadsides in general are underwhelming(And a rant about ramming)

It's not the game modes that make it feel that way, it's ship movement speed. Someone math'd out the damage to show that one TT "turn" lasts about 25 seconds in the video game. Which means in the span of 25 seconds, most ships should move somewhere between 3-6K distance depending on their ...
